19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former coach Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an better serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued four early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
